Our old fashioned brick fireplace was not only a big eye sore in the past, even more disturbing was the fact that we barely used it (CLEANING this fireplace took forever!!!).

Three years ago we finally made the decision to "retire" the fireplace for good :-) After a thorough cleaning, the brick firebox has been spray painted with a high-heat spray paint for barbecues.

Next step: painting the red brick with BEHR Paint & Primer. Make sure you fix any loose mortar before painting.

Last step: using a deglosser to prep the mantel for staining it with CABOT Premium Wood Finish - a one step finish (stain & sealer), color: Aged Leather

We purchased an inexpensive table top fireplace (using Ethanol Fuel) for flickering flames and a cozy ambiance - MAINTENANCE FREE :-)
